Marden (/ ˈ m ɑːr d ən / or / m ɑːr ˈ d ɛ n /) [2] is a village and civil parish in the Kent borough of Maidstone approximately 8 miles (13 km) south of Maidstone. The civil parish is located on the flood plain of the River Beult , and also includes Chainhurst and the hamlet of Wanshurst Green.
The village of Marden is situated nine miles south of Maidstone in Kent, England. In the Dark Ages herdsmen visited the uninhabited thick forests and marshes of the Weald of Kent in the autumn to feed their pigs on acorns & beech mast. During these visits they lived in clearings known as “dens”.
