  1. On the architecture, I would argue that Trumbull is Rogers' best work and one of the prettiest colleges at Yale along with Saybrook/Branford. The entire college is stone, unlike JE, Berkeley, and Hopper which all have substantial portions of brick.

  2. A Harvard College graduate, Trumbull was the only colonial governor to support the American Revolution. Opened in September 1933, Trumbull College is one of the eight Yale colleges designed by James Gamble Rogers and the only one funded by John W. Sterling.

  3. Trumbull College. Comprised of four hundred students, along with resident faculty members and their families, Trumbull is one of Yale’s most beautiful and most intimate residential colleges. It is also by far the most picturesque; a Gothic edifice that looks just the way Yale is supposed to look.

  4. I would steer away from ranking, because where Trumbull may be perfect for one person, TD might be spot on for the next. The most practical consideration, and a significant one in each one’s life, is its geography.

Although it is among the smallest of Yale’s twelve residential colleges, Trumbull has established its place in history as Yale’s greatest, finest and best. There is a plethora of evidence for such a claim:

Trumbull has the best dance event at Yale (and we’re generous enough to let you in for a small fee). At Pamplona, the Bulls are let free to run amok, while during the Rumble in Trumbull Trumbullians combat with massive foam gloves. The TrumCrier wears bull horns and proclaims, to the clinging of forks against cups that, at 6 o’clock in Trumbull, al...

No other college can claim to be quite so loved as Trumbull – the ultimate sacrifice is evident in Sterling giving its wall to serve as Trumbull’s fourth. The hidden courtyards that everyone claims exist at Yale? Undoubtedly, people are referring to Trumbull’s main court.

The unofficial headquarters of the undergraduate drama that isn’t happening at the Yale Dramat, Nick Chapel has played host to countless comedies, tragedies, senior projects, and musicals. The only residential college theater for most of Yale’s history, Nick Chapel is constantly in high demand and serves as a constant source of entertainment for Tr...

Moo-rah, moo-rah, we’ve got big bulls? When spoken through the genteel lips of classy Trumbullians, the words almost seem dignified. Almost, but not quite. And perhaps that’s the fun of it.

The third of Trumbull’s courtyards, Potty Court is Yale’s only courtyard with a mascot and a distinctive title. The Courtyard’s name derives from a modern rendition of The Thinker a whimsical statue of a figure sitting on a toilet that adorns the rooftop facing Sterling library. One only wonders whether this spectacular gargoyle banned from Sterlin...

  5. Aug 31, 2023 · Trumbull: That one specific vantage point in the courtyard where you can see the turret of Sterling Memorial Library. TD: Under the big gingko tree in the courtyard, after sunset but before it gets too dark. It’s the perfect place to read and scribble thoughts. Class of 2027, Yale is yours.

  7. Jun 6, 2010 · The location is actually very good; at the corner of Elm/Broadway and York (bookstore, shops), close to Cross Campus and near Durfees. Like most of the Residential Colleges, Trumbull was recently renovated, has great amenities. (For incoming Freshman, Bingham is probably some of the best housing on Old Campus).
