Anything on Sky's satellite service has to be DVB-compliant. The standard does support 1080p to an extent, but any pre-Sky Q box doesn't support 1080p output, so the TV has to do the deinterlacing. Those boxes couldn't do streaming either, hence why Sky's On Demand service revolves around progressive downloading instead.
