Assuming Luke's telling the truth, it blows my mind that two more senior guys wrote a sketch where the central conceit is that the main character is an unfunny dick and then made the brand-new guy do it for 2 agonizing minutes in his first headlining sketch.
The best is that what he's doing is unfunny and yet he does it very well. Dude memorized his lines! One of my favorite sketches of the season. Lesson is - SNL shouldn't try any anti-comedy.
I loved Luke and was crushed he got released before he had time to come into his own on the show. His album is great and that wedding toast sketch is one of the funniest I’ve seen and it was cut.
