George Stein, a subscriber to the Shortwave Radio Audio Archive writes: “When I used to listen to Radio Moscow back in the mid- to late 1960s, they used to play a little ditty just after they came on the air (at least in English). This tune was NOT the “Moscow Nights” tune so often heard.
The radio played the song again. The number of letter bales doubled, then tripled. In 1957, the song “Moscow Nights” performed by Vladimir Troshin became the solemn song of the Moscow Festival of Youth and Students. As a complete surprise, Solovyov-Sedoy was awarded the First Prize and the Big Gold Medal of the festival for this song.

Radio Moscow's interval signal was "Wide Is My Motherland" (Russian: Широка страна моя родная, romanized: Shiroka strana moya rodnaya). Moscow Nights was the station's signature tune since its relaunch as the Radio Moscow World Service in 1978.
Jul 26, 2005 · I do not know what station do you mean, there are several but Radio Moscow used "Moscow Nights", played on chimes. Voice of Russia World Service has used two further other tunes "Midnight in Moscow", a version played by Ricky King, and also Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
