University life in South Korea is far from perfect. But then again, is it anywhere? As I mentioned, I don’t regret studying in Korea. It led me to where I am today, and I am more than happy to be in the situation I am currently in. In saying that, living and studying in Korea was exceptionally difficult at times.

The answer is - it usually is only worth something in Korea. I have only ever read, heard or even mentioned by just 1 person from the western world that claimed getting their degree in Korea was worth the hassle.
Now I’m trying to rush through this semester and do my last semester online from Korea and I really regret not being able to enjoy college as much because I was not in the place I wanted to be in. So basically, if you feel like going to school in NYC is for you then do it!

Seoul is an extremely safe city with a low rate of crime and violence. Its level of safety is similar to that of most of the European cities and higher than most of the American cities. International students can rest assured and enjoy the city attractions and appreciate the nightlife; whether solo or together with friends.
As a student living in Seoul you could definitely get away with not knowing any Korean but you should at least be able to greet someone properly and say please and thank you just out of respect. I didn't find Koreans rude in general but there were some culture differences of course.
