Black Sails is a series that managed to fly under many people’s radars, but now is the perfect time to check it out now that the whole show has wrapped and the entire saga can be binged. Black Sails is able to capture the same epic storytelling and sprawling battles as Game of Thrones, but it shifts the setting to the high seas and looks at ruthles...

Succession may not initially seem like the closest analogue to Game of Thrones. It’s a modern story that looks at one-percenters who run some of the biggest media companies in the world and there isn’t a dragon in sight. However, the quest for power, subterfuge between family members, and constant betrayals are deeply reflective of Game of Thrones.

Spartacus is a highly effective portrayal of Rome’s greatest gladiator and all of the ensuing drama and carnage that infected the land. The series hops back and forth in time to convey a larger sense of Rome’s history and it doesn’t hold back when it comes to the battles that take place for power.

Emerald City was just a one season wonder that recently aired on NBC, but it’s such a fascinating experiment that it deserves to be checked out. Visionary filmmaker Tarsem Singh directs the entire series, which acts as an unusual update to The Wizard of Oz. It applies a very Game of Thrones-like aesthetic to the story and just looks fascinating, ev...

The Tudors digs into the sordid history and rule of King Henry VIII and the various companions that he had throughout his lengthy run as King. The series operates with a lot of the same attitude as Game of Thrones, albeit much more grounded. It also features Natalie Dormer, which is another bonus for Thrones fans.

Peaky Blinders is set in England during the early 1900s after the events of the first World War and it depicts an environment where chaos reigns. Gang warfare, crime, and murder are rampant and the series looks at the important figures within all of this disorder. The alliances, allegiances, and even the fights all feel reminiscent of Game of Thron...

Game of Thrones is set in a fantastical world that’s void of modern technology, but HBO’s Westworld posits a society that’s advanced far beyond the modern world. Westworld’s addictive storytelling should satisfy Game of Thrones viewers, but the various worlds that the show creates, like the Old West, also carry a Thrones vibe.

The 100 on The CW has grown into quite the mature and complex program for the network. In what feels like Lord of the Flies meets Game of Thrones, a bunch of teenagers return to Earth after nuclear devastation wipes out the planet and they attempt to rebuild. The story continues to expand in big ways and it does feel like Game of Thrones for a youn...

Battlestar Galactica is set in space and deals with robots rather than dragons, but there’s still an unexpected connection between these programs. Battlestar Galactica and Game of Thrones both took genre programming seriously and helped show what they’re capable of. Battlestar Galactica tells a gripping drama that’s full of war and mystery.

The Borgias was a Showtime drama set in Renaissance-era Italy that looks at the Borgia family, who attempt to con and manipulate their way to gain control of the territory and invade the papacy. Jeremy Irons leads the series and his unscrupulous Rodrigo Borgia honestly feels like he would fit in on Game of Thrones. Related: 15 Lesser Known Facts Ab...

  3. Apr 16, 2021 · How can we miss Game of Thrones if it never went away? HBO is trumpeting Game of Thrones’ 10th anniversary. But does anybody still really care?

  4. I miss Game of Thrones. I know, I know - the last two seasons were pure shit. But I do miss the show. I've tried to get into so many different shows since Game of Thrones ended, but I just can't stop comparing them to the masterpiece that Game of Thrones was.

  5. I didn't want to see Arya lose her humanity. Jon's resurrection and ultimate purpose was to unite the realms of man and then to kill Dany, who was the final threat. Jon being Targaryen AND Stark is what caused the rift between him and Dany.

  6. What series or movie should I watch when I'm missing GoT? I tried Westworld because it was on top on HBO, but it was weird. My friend told me to watch Vikings (Spoiler for Vikings ) but he also spoiled me that main character will die so I don't want to watch it anymore.
