In 1845, 308 taxpayers divided the area into North Annville and South Annville, and in 1908 Annville was designated a separate township nestled between North and South. Increased travel along the Allegheny Trail led to the development of the Berks and Dauphin Turnpike (US 422) in 1817.
The Annville National Historic District is a national historic district located in Annville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is one of two historic districts in the community of Annville, [2] and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. [1] [3]
Annville is home to Lebanon Valley College, making it a destination for those seeking culture, history, and plenty of musical events. The college campus is also a beautiful place to walk, especially around the Peace Garden.
The historic district encompasses the residential core of 18th–19th century Annville with the building styles ranging from primitive 18th century log houses to imposing neo-classical and Victorian mansions. Approximately 30 log houses still survive in the west end of town.
