Vinicius and Tom are the official mascots of 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Both were first revealed without names on November 23, 2014.
Vinicius
Vinicius is a hybrid of multiple Brazilian fauna. Specifically, a cat, bird (possibly macaws) and monkey. His arms and legs can stretch long distances. He is named after Vinicus de Moraes, a Brazilian lyricist.
Tom
Tom's design represents the plants of Brazil. He is able to pull anything from his leafy "hair". Like Vinicius, he is named after a real person, Tom Jobin.
•Both were created by the São Paulo based animation company Birdo.
•Like Cobi and Petra, they had an animated series. It was called •Some considered names for them were Oba and Eba and Tiba Tuque and Esquindim. Their final names were selected by popular vote.
