Sep 6, 2016 · How to tell. The base of the charger says. 220-240 V AC ~ 50-60 Hz 0.9W. UK vs USA. You are using this in the UK on a nominally 230 V AC supply at 50 Hz. Normal† outlets in the USA are nominally 120 V AC at 60 Hz. So you are OK on frequency but the US voltage is way outside the range for which this charger was designed.

However, it is recommended that you print a copy for your records. Also, some airlines may ask you to bring a copy, in which case you should print it out.

Generally what happens next is they ask what exactly you are bringing, you say "chocolate" and they let you go. As a general rule, if you are not sure whether something needs to be declared or not, declare it.
A passport is generally but not always enough in the USA, so sometimes you just have to deal with it and go somewhere else. I can't count the number of times I've had to point out the photo page of my passport to a bouncer, a lot of the residents in less cosmopolitan cities and small towns aren't familiar with international passports and won't recognise them as ID.
