I think KTM wanted to keep him in Moto2, Raul forced their hand by trying to sign for a rival MotoGP team, which he could have done if they hadn't given him a MotoGP offer as part of his contract. I don't think that KTM dealt with it that well, but he was also the architect of his own demise too.
