Mar 15, 2023 · Most of Lincolnshire’s long barrows are in the Wolds, with a high concentration of round barrows, together with many important ancient trackways. The Wolds also has one of the largest densities of deserted and shrunken medieval villages in the country.
It is a living, working landscape, with woodland, grassland and abandoned chalk pits providing important habitats for rare flowers and wildlife. This is a wonderful area of countryside with some of the most beautiful, unspoilt scenery in the East Midlands.
