Against the backdrop of unaccountable disappearances at the sunny seaside resort of Ocean Beach, the inquisitive reporter, Ned Turner, arrives at the small town to visit his sister, Tillie, and her ten-year-old son. Before long, a new string of deaths terrorises the city, as a mutated giant octopus preys on unsuspecting swimmers and tourists.
