Angela Isadora Duncan (May 26, 1877 or May 27, 1878 [a] – September 14, 1927) was an American-born dancer and choreographer, who was a pioneer of modern contemporary dance and performed to great acclaim throughout Europe and the US. Born and raised in California, she lived and danced in Western Europe, the US and Soviet Russia from the age of 22.
Isadora Duncan was known for her unconventional dance style that emphasized natural movement and emotional expression, inspired by ancient Greek art. She was a pioneer in the world of modern dance, breaking away from traditional ballet techniques and costumes.
