The International Energy Agency (IEA) is a Paris-based autonomous intergovernmental organisation, established in 1974, that provides policy recommendations, analysis and data on the global energy sector.
With the objective to increase the geographical coverage of the statistical information provided, the IEA has included in the 2022 edition CO2 emission factors for electricity and heat generation for a complementary set of over forty countries until 2020.
This new integrated modelling framework, the IEA’s Global Energy and Climate Model (GEC Model), is now the principal tool used to generate detailed sector-by-sector and region-by-region long-term scenarios across IEA publications.
