   • Its name came from the old land holdings of the Abbey of Saint-Denis, which was once very close to the château. As a city, Chantilly is less than 250 years old. The oldest part is the rue du Connétable, which began in 1727 as a planned allotment called "the officials' housing", allocated from part of the château estate.
