Boy on a Dolphin is a 1957 American romantic adventure film theatrically released by 20th Century-Fox. It is set in Greece and shot in DeLuxe Color and CinemaScope. It was directed by Jean Negulesco and produced by Samuel G. Engel from a screenplay by Ivan Moffat and Dwight Taylor, based on the 1955 novel of the same name by David Divine.

“Boy on a Dolphin†(1957) starred Alan Ladd and is notable for being the film that introduced Sophia Loren to American audiences. She plays Phaedra, an earthy Greek sponge diver who finds a rare, and valuable, centuries-old statue of a golden boy riding a dolphin down in the water off the coast of one of the islands.
The first Hollywood feature shot in Greece has that going for it, in CinemaScope, plus 23-year-old Sophia Loren in diving gear. That's almost enough, but livelier material and any chemistry at all between Loren and a sleepwalking Alan Ladd might have helped. (Even Clifton Webb is becalmed in a low-stakes smuggling plot.)
