Antonio Martínez del Castillo known professionally as Florián Rey was a Spanish director, actor, and screenwriter. He directed The Cursed Village, widely recognized as a seminal work in silent Spanish cinema, and helped launch the career of famed Argentinian–Spanish actress Imperio Argentina.
Florián Rey, de nombre real Antonio Martínez del Castillo (La Almunia de Doña Godina, Zaragoza, 25 de enero de 1894-Benidorm, 11 de abril de 1962), fue un director de cine español, uno de los máximos representantes del cine mudo y de la industria cinematográfica española de la Segunda República.
Florián Rey. Spanish director Florian Rey began his career in the film industry in the 1920s as an actor, but he soon switched careers and directed his first film in 1924. His 1927 film La hermana San Sulpicio (1927) starred Spanish actress Imperio Argentina, whom he later married.
