- Instead Of Turning Around, Turn Right. The Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point is one of the most popular spots for visitors to San Francisco Bay. The standard itinerary is to drive across the bridge, get off at the overlook, take photos, and then take the loop road to the left and back onto the highway, heading south across the bridge.

The Marin Headlands is one of my favorite places to go when I visit SF. It is right over the Golden Gate Bridge. As you take the drive, stop at the first overlook, park and walk thru the old army bunkers, and enjoy the spectacular views of the city. You are standing right on the very edge looking down on San Francisco Bay and the city.
