Thomas Cole Mountain is a mountain in Greene County, New York. The mountain is named after the artist Thomas Cole (1801–1848), who lived in the area and is regarded as the founder of the Hudson River School.
At one point as you walk along the flat area in the col between the Hump and Cole, Thomas Cole Mountain is directly in front of you. The final ascent up Thomas Cole is steep in parts and rather long. There are no views from the summit.
Thomas Cole Mountain is part of the Blackhead Range and is the fourth highest peak of the Catskill Mountains. You can access the peak from Black Dome or Camel's Hump. This route begins from Barnum Road and follows the Black Dome Range Trail to the summit of the peak.

Nov 10, 2021 · From Black Dome, continue west on the Black Dome Range Trail for 0.8 towards Thomas Cole Mountain, named after the famous painter whose works depicted Catskills peaks. This is one of the more relaxing sections of this hike, as there is only a mere 200′ of elevation loss between the two mountains.
