Nov 28, 2016 · I removed the dynamic jaw and determined that the long 'key' in the slide is moving in the groove on the slide. It is retained by two roll pins... and they are not tight... allowing the key to slightly move in the slide.
For those who don’t already know, the slide key on most Wilton vises has a date stamped on it to indicate the date the vise was ready for release (sale). The slide key is a square length of key stock that fits into a groove in the body of the vise to keep the front jaw from rotating.

Jun 12, 2014 · It is also possible that there will be "GUAR EXP" stamp instead of the date code. The Company started out by stamping, not casting, their vises with dates, but these were originally not manufacturing dates, but dates when the 5-year guarantee would expire.
