On June 13, 1918, at a meeting held in a granary, sixteen farmers organized a company to bring electricity to Woodbury. They elected officers and a motion was made and carried that each member put in $50. They named themselves Woodbury Light and Power.

Mar 25, 2017 · 1974 - Woodbury became a city. June 4, 1974 - Voters approved a bond that provided $395,000, making it possible for the city to partially develop Ojibway Park and build a park activity building there.
As the ice age retreated aforestation started to build the area into a vast forest. Man then came along and started to shape the face of the commons. Around 500-300 B.C. man moved into the area and built a hill fort, now known as Woodbury Castle. This is a scheduled ancient monument.
Woodbury was named after Judge Levi Woodbury of New Hampshire, a friend of the first town board chairman. The first settlers came to Woodbury in 1844. Most of the area's early settlers migrated from the eastern states and from Germany. Immigrants also came from Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Scotland and Denmark.
