It's objectively a good movie, with a well written story, some very good acting and, great direction and cinematography. You also won't be bored or lose interest while watching it, and you'll most likely get invested in the characters and their journeys.
Question. Aside from overplaying Lux Aeterna to absolute death, I love this movie. Personally, I watch Requiem for a dream every couple years or so and I really enjoy it. I feel like the movie does a really good job at story telling and conveying emotion. The first time I watched it, I found myself emotionally invested into the characters.
"Requiem for a Dream" tells parallel stories that are linked by the relationship between the lonely, widowed Sara Goldfarb and her sweet but aimless son, Harry.

Or if you're in the mood for an artsy Japanese romance flick to soften the palet a little after requiem then I would strongly recommend Audition. Great movies to watch with the ladies too. Girls love foreign art.
If anything, Aronofsky’s doomy, freaky, humorless style defeats his own purpose: It re-animates the dark romance of dissolution — it makes addiction look cool.
