I’m sure every Michigan native who’s reading this right now thinks I’m crazy/naïve/bad at geography (and at least a couple of those are probably true), but for most of my life, Kalamazoo was always one of those funny words that people used to describe an imaginary place.
Although many residents would agree that Kalamazoo is a wonderland in it’s own right, it is indeed a real-life place. Locals are so used to answering the question, “Wait, it’s a real place?” that they’re completely unfazed when it happens.
