The cast's deaths are often devastating because people see how hard both the doctor and the patients try to overcome obesity and related complications. - Kelly Mason. Kelly Mason had appeared during the seventh season of My 600-lb Life in 2019. She died in February 2019 and her death also formed a part of the episode’s storyline.
- Lisa Fleming. Lisa was a participant of My 600-lb Life season 6 and she passed away in August 2018 at the age of 50. When she first made an appearance in the show, she was bedridden and tipped the scales at over 700 pounds.
- James “L.B.” Bonner. James was also a participant from season 6 and sadly, he took his own life prior to the death of Fleming. When we first met him, he weighed above 650 pounds but with hard work and determination, he managed to cut down his initial weight by half almost.
- Robert Buchel. Yet another star from season 6, Robert Buchel met with his untimely death while filming his episode. When he approached Dr. Younan, he weighed 840 pounds, and over the months, managed to cut down his mass by 340 pounds.
- Destinee LaShaee. Destinee LaShaee was well-known amongst fans of the reality show for being the first trans star of My 600-lb Life, and their story on the show was one of success.
- Gina Krasley. Gina arrived to Dr. Now's office in Season 8 and relocated from New Jersey with her wife, Beth, for Dr. Now's weight-loss program. Though she struggled to drop the weight Dr. Now requires of all his patients in order to be approved for surgery, off the show, Gina shared in March of 2021 that she had dropped 300 lbs.
- Coliesa McMillian. Season 8's Coliesa passed away on Sept. 22, 2020, at the age of 41 in Baton Rouge, La. According to the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office, Coliesa died of natural causes due to complications from weight-loss surgery from which she sadly never recovered, per TMZ.
- James King. Forty-nine-year-old James King, who first appeared on the TLC hit series in 2017's Season 5, and made several follow-up appearances over the next few years, passed away in Nashville, Tenn., on April 3, 2020.
- Henry Foots. Season 1 fan favorite Henry Foots was 715 pounds when viewers were first introduced to him. He attributed his size to lifelong binge eating, but he was ready to make a lasting change when his high school reunion was just around the corner.
