It places a premium on finesse, imagination and shot making, rather than strength.
Harbour Town Golf Links is a public golf course on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, that hosts the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour. It is known for its narrow fairways, small greens, water hazards, and lighthouse backdrop.

- Par 4, 410 yards. The slight front-to-back tilt of the first green at Harbour Town is a good reminder that golf features don't need to be loud or large to be effective.
- Par 5, 550 yards. The pot bunker over the back of the second green at Harbour Town will snare long approaches that come in with too much heat.
- Par 4, 469 yards. Pete Dye intentionally made three of the greenside bunkers guarding Harbour Town's third green very visible in order to ambush the golfer with the presence of the fourth, which is the most penal of all of them (grass face/depression visible beyond the small pine tree on the right).
- Par 3, 200 yards. The golfer's first real confrontation with water at Harbour Town comes at the par-3 4th hole. Water pops into play for the first time in a big way here, with a lagoon that widens from the tee to wrap around the left half of the heart-shaped green.
- “Links” is a loose term. The word “links” might provoke visuals of an open, undulating course with wide greens like St Andrews or Chambers Bay. Or perhaps a track hugging the water and riding the wind like Pebble Beach.
- All about that accuracy. C.T. Pan, Webb Simpson and Stewart Cink have earned recent wins at Harbour Town. Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker and Brian Gay have all raised the trophy.
- The windy finish. After making it through the first 16 holes at Harbour Town, the final two holes can feel like a totally different course. On No. 17, a 179-yard par 3, trees no longer present an issue around the green, which is stationed in the Calibogue Sound.
- Pete Dye-Jack Nicklaus pedigree. As the story goes, in 1968, Charles E. Fraser, the man behind Sea Pines Resort and much of Hilton Head’s tourist growth, wanted to construct a championship golf course with an old-fashioned look on the island.
