Ganryū-jima (巌流島, formerly Funa-jima 船島[1]) is an island in Japan located between Honshū and Kyūshū, and accessible via ferry from Shimonoseki Harbor (下関港).

The legendary battle of the two samurai's is immortalized here on the small island. The statue of the two fighting is on a small hill area of the island. Away from the mainland, the small island is a brief retreat to get away from the city environment.

Ganryujima Island. A small island in the Kanmon Straits in Shimonoseki, was the scene of a famous duel in 1612. Two famous swordsmen and long-term rivals, Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro battled on the uninhabited island of Ganryujima, and Miyamoto prevailed.
