Allestree is a suburb and ward of the city of Derby, a unitary authority area, in Derbyshire, England. It is the northernmost ward and is on the A6 road, about 2 miles (3 km) north of Derby city centre. It is bordered by the district of Amber Valley along its western and northern edges and Erewash in its north-east corner.
Allestree is a pleasant residential suburb on the northern periphery of Derby, it has a shopping centre at Park Farm. Also, it is the home of Derby University. It is almost surrounded by agricultural land and attractive parks.

Allestree park is a marvellous piece of country side that is well worth visiting during lockdown for a walk around the lake and watch the wildlife have fun on the water, very popular and with no golf allowed you can walk anywhere, go and enjoy.

Allestree Park boasts some of the best views in Derby from the edge of ‘Big Wood’ looking over the Derwent valley. There are lakeside walks, mature woodlands to explore, grasslands to picnic on and wildflower meadows to bask with butterflies.
Allestree Park is the largest Local Nature Reserve in Derbyshire and was designated in 2002. It forms part of a wider network of nature reserves and local wildlife sites throughout Derby using established tree lines, Burley Brook and the River Derwent as a green connection.
