The Lone Star Conference (LSC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. Member institutions are located in the South Central states, with schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, with two members in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon and Washington competing as affiliates for football only.
ENMU was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools as a four-year liberal arts college in 1947. Graduate work leading to the master's degree was added in 1949, and the institution was officially designated Eastern New Mexico University in 1955.
In 1940, the third and fourth years of college were first offered, leading to a bachelor's degree, and the institution was renamed Eastern New Mexico College (ENMC). ENMC was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools as a four-year liberal arts college in 1946–47.
On July 25, 1939, Eastern New Mexico Junior College added a third year and officially changed its name to Eastern New Mexico College.
