[1] He was the husband of Princess Isabella of Savoy, daughter of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and his wife Infanta Catherine Michelle of Spain.

Alfonso III. was the first son of the Duke Cesare I. d'Este of Modena and Reggio and his wife Virginia de' Medici and was born on 22nd October 1591. Not only did he bear a close resemblance to his mother (compare their eyes!), but he was also very close to her.
Alfonso III (c. 848 – 20 December 910), called the Great (Spanish: el Magno), was the king of León, Galicia and Asturias from 866 until his death. He was the son and successor of Ordoño I. In later sources, he is the earliest to be called "Emperor of Spain." He was also titled "Prince of all Galicia" (Princeps totius Galletiae [1]).
