  2. Tokyo Sweetheart. 1952. Watched Feb 25 , 2021. A. Ward’s review published on Letterboxd: I think 1950's Toho B movie dramedies are my favorite genre. That is, if that counts as a genre and if these movies are considered B movies. Feel very grateful to find this with subtitles.

  4. The movie is actually quite diverse, with comedy, drama, (somewhat) romance and even action along the way, The amazing Setsuko Hara and the fantastic Toshiro Mifune, what can I say? Pretty awesome to see the duo at work.

  5. It's a rather dark comedy, with Miss Sugi desperately ill, and everyone having real money worries in underclass Tokyo. Even so, director Yasuki Chiba brings through a pleasant, complex mix of smiles and tears.
