The Rubinoos are an American power pop band that formed in 1970 in Berkeley, California. They are perhaps best known for their singles " I Think We're Alone Now " (1977, a cover of the hit by Tommy James & the Shondells ), "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" (1979), and for the theme song to the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds .

Alex Carlin is an American rock musician and songwriter, best known as a member of seminal California bands The Rubinoos and Psycotic Pineapple, as well as for his solo career. In 2009 he set a Guinness World Record in Radomsko, Poland playing the “Longest Solo Concert” – 32 hours of rock songs.
The band gained national prominence with their 1977 debut LP, The Rubinoos.
