It is based (but not really) on Canadian media sensation Gillian Guess. A bodacious, blonde juror who had an affair with the suspect on trial, an Indo-Canadian gangster. In real life, she claimed it was love.
Based on the true story of Gillian Guess, a juror who had a romantic relationship with Peter Gill, the defendant in a gang-related murder, during the 1995 trial. Though Gill was acquitted of murder, both he and Guess served time for obstruction of justice.
