While visiting his friend Charlie (Robert Downey Jr.), a choreographer dying of AIDS, he meets willowy beauty Karen (Nastassja Kinski). This chance meeting leads to a one night stand. When Max returns home to L.A., he realizes how empty and stale his life is.
