Soccer families who have never had the opportunity to join a summer beach soccer tournament are in for a treat. Athletes who have been waiting for beach soccer to return can rejoice — summer fun is back! We reached out to Coach Z to get more information. Here’s what he told us:
The event is for EVERYONE: U8 to U19 for youth. Also adult men, women and coed, in addition to the pros!
Teams play in a 5V5 format, and subs happen pretty often. It’s a high pace game and very fun. Teams are guaranteed 3 games, plus medal rounds for those who earn it.
Games will be played under FIFA Beach Soccer rules. So, three periods of 11 minutes each (adults & pros play 12 minutes per FIFA).
As long as players have US Club or USYS players cards, and have a licensed coach with a card, they can enter a team. Most teams rename their team or even break their full-sized team into two teams and make up fun names and uniforms. It is a total beach party! This is not a normal soccer tournament.
