The Sam Spiegel Film and Television School (Hebrew: בית הספר סם שפיגל לקולנוע ולטלוויזיה) is a film and television school in Jerusalem, Israel that was founded in 1989 as the Jerusalem School of Film. it was renamed in honor of Hollywood producer Sam Spiegel in 1996 with the acquisition of his estate.
The Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film School is considered Israel’s leading film school, having won Best Film School 16 times. Named one of the best film schools outside the US by the Hollywood Reporter six years in a row.
It was originally called the Jerusalem National Film & Television School but was rededicated as the Sam Spiegel Film & Television School when legendary Hollywood producer Sam Spiegel bequeathed a substantial portion of his estate to the city of Jerusalem.
Since 1996, they have made an annual contribution, through the Jerusalem Foundation, to the film school in Jerusalem bearing his name since that time – the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, Jerusalem. This annual contribution is the largest in the history of Israeli cinema.
