Joseph Ber Soloveitchik ( Hebrew: יוסף דב הלוי סולובייצ׳יק Yosef Dov ha-Levi Soloveychik; February 27, 1903 – April 9, 1993) was a major American Orthodox rabbi, Talmudist, and modern Jewish philosopher. He was a scion of the Lithuanian Jewish Soloveitchik rabbinic dynasty .
Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Rabbi Soloveitchik was born in Pruzhan, Poland, the son of Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik zt’l, and grandson of Rabbi Chaim HaLevi zt’l. At the time, Rabbi Moshe was living with his father-in-law, Rabbi Eliyahu Feinstein zt’I, rabbi of Pruzhan and author of Teshuvot Halichot Eliyahu.
