Manhunt in the Jungle is a 1958 American adventure film directed by Tom McGowan and written by Sam Mervin and Owen Crump. The film stars Robin Hughes, Luis Álvarez, James Wilson, Jorge Montoro, Natalia Mazuelos and John B. Symmes. The film was released by Warner Bros. on April 11, 1958.
The serial was re-released on April 5, 1954, under the new title Manhunt in the African Jungles, between the first runs of Trader Tom of the China Seas and Man with the Steel Whip. Television. Secret Service in Darkest Africa was one of twenty-six Republic serials re-released as a film on television in 1966.
In the late 1920s, adventurer George Dyatt starts an expedition in the Amazon region in South America to search for the missing Colonel Percy Fawcett deep in the jungle. Fawcett was seeking the legendary town El Dorado, which is said to contain tons of gold and treasures. The story is based on Dyatt's book about his real life search for Fawcett.
