In the course of the trials they meet someone who has lived in isolation for over ten years. It's the 50s, and a Vernesque plot, so things resolve themselves rather nicely. As a kickback nostalgia trip, it fit the bill nicely.

What gives it an edge over other Universal-International product of the time is the CinemaScope aspect ratio, giving us more of an eyeful of some pretty good sets. There's plenty of vegetation and steam to add to the atmosphere.
