Or at least, that is the case of certain mexican noirs. But in the case of "Ángeles de arrabal" the noir feeling is there during the complete film. Of course it has its cheap sentimentalism which probably wasn't necessary at all, but well, mexicans love sentimentalism. It probably was added to give the film a touchness of tragedy.
