Idol on Parade (also known as Idle on Parade) is a 1959 British comedy film directed by John Gilling and starring William Bendix, Anthony Newley, Sid James and Lionel Jeffries. The screenplay was by John Antrobus , based on the 1958 William Camp novel Idle on Parade [2] [3] which was inspired by Elvis Presley 's conscription into the US Army [ citation needed ] .

Idle on Parade (also known as Idol on Parade) featured the adventures and misadventures of rock 'n' roll idol "Jeep" Jackson (Anthony Newley)who is drafted into the army for his National Service. His sergeant is played by American import William Bendix (as an Irishman), while one of his fellow National Serviceman is played by comedy stooge Bernie Winters.
