Farewell Rabaul definitely isn't a bad movie, but it's easy to see why Ishiro Honda's other big movie released in 1954 became the more well-known of the two (that movie of course being the first Godzilla). I think Farewell Rabaul might be one of the earliest Japanese WW2 movies I've ever seen, which made it interesting.
