Eric Ewazen ( / ɪˈweɪzən /; born March 1, 1954, Cleveland, Ohio) is an American composer and teacher.
Eric Ewazen is a composer of works for brass and wind instruments, such as trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, and bassoon. He also writes orchestral and chamber music, and has several CDs and publications available.
Eric Ewazen was born in 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. Receiving a B.M. At the Eastman School of Music, and M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from The Juilliard School, his teachers include Milton Babbitt, Samuel Adler, Warren Benson, Joseph Schwantner and Gunther Schuller.
Eric Ewazen is a composer and music theorist who teaches at Juilliard and its Pre-College division. He has received many awards and prizes, and his works have been performed by various ensembles around the world.

Jul 28, 2021 · American composer and teacher Eric Ewazen composed his Ballade, Pastorale and Dance in the winter of 1992-93. Commissioned by David Wakefield and Barli Nugent, to whom the piece is also dedicated, this chamber work premiered in Aspen in the summer of 1993.
