John Veale was an English composer. His great-uncle was the composer Cyril Rootham. He read modern history at Oxford University (1939–41) and studied music with Wellesz (1940–42, 1947–8) and with Sir Thomas Armstrong.
John Veale (1922-2006) was a self-taught composer who wrote three symphonies, a violin concerto and other orchestral works. He also composed film scores that were later destroyed by the studios and suffered under the avant garde musical regime of the BBC.
