Hal Roach Studios was an American motion picture and television production studio. Known as The Laugh Factory to the World, it was founded by producer Hal Roach and business partners Dan Linthicum and I.H. Nance as the Rolin Film Company on July 23, 1914.
The Hal Roach Studios (1919–1963) in 1959. Unable to expand his studios in Downtown Los Angeles because of zoning, Roach purchased what became the Hal Roach Studios from Harry Culver in Culver City, California.
Hal Roach Studios. Constructed in 1919 and known as ‘The Laugh Factory to the World’, the studio was located at 8822 Washington Boulevard, Culver City. The studio went bankrupt in 1959 under the management of Hal Roach’s son, and was demolished in 1963. It’s now the Landmark Industrial Tract.

Apr 1, 2006 · One of Culver City’s lost landmarks was the Hal Roach Studios, originally located at 8822 West Washington Blvd. (at the corner of Washington & National Blvds.). In 1980, the site was marked with an historical plaque as one of the City’s most famous and important studios.
