As Mel recalled in his 1988 autobiography, That’s Not All Folks, he responded to the producer’s request with, “Me? A nice Jewish boy do the voice of a pig?” But Schlesinger was in no mood for joking - he need a new voice for Porky for the same recording session on the following Tuesday.
