Zhang Beihai is a Chinese soldier, a political commissar in the PLA Navy and also a Space Force officer. Although he believes in defeatism, he disguised himself to appear like he had confidence in the victory of humanity.
Zhang Beihai is not only a master strategist willing to be ruthless and do what needs doing, he’s also a super spy and student of the human soul who sees the world as it is, not as he wants it to be.

He is my favorite character of the serie. His dedication to his goal is really impressive. He saved humanity for many millenias in contrast to Luo Ji who only saved humanity for a century or two. My favorite scene of the whole serie is the password change ceremony of the Natural Selection.
