If Stephen Hawking with his condition was living in an era where everybody needed to work 7 days a week to survive, he would have been a goner. If Stephen Hawking was living in an era where the richer people employed scienceologists (yes I made up that word) to do research for them and he wouldn't have been in this condition, he would have done great (most likely).

Nowhere in the article did Hawking say his theories would happen in the near future. The robotics dude sounds like my parents thoughts on climate change. "It probably won't happen in our lifetime so we don't need to think about it." TL;DR: If this article was trying to dispute Hawking's AMA answers, it failed miserably.
