  1. May 27, 2008 · Jun 1, 2022. #23. 'Man cave' is an interesting one, it may well have come from the Mars-Venus series, it certainly has become a physical place, one every man- oops, sorry: Everyman aspires to. It used to be called a 'den' in my childhood (60s), which eventually became the 'playroom' as Man, sorry Everyman, loses out, once again, to wife and family.

  2. Sep 29, 2020 · There are lots of famous tourist attraction caves in the U.S. Mammoth Cave is one of the most famous and the largest (really an entire series of interconnecting caverns miles long that's the longest in the world). They all have their own distinctive names. Carlsbad Caverns, Wyandotte Cave, Luray Caverns, Meramec Caverns, etc., etc.

  3. May 15, 2015 · San Jose, California. English - USA. May 15, 2015. #2. Hi jacdac- You could say, "I feel like the world is caving in on me" or "Everything is caving in on me." The image created is, imagine you're inside of a cave, and all of a sudden the whole cave collapses and you're stuck inside or crushed. (Yikes!)

  4. Jun 19, 2012 · Jun 19, 2012. #13. sous-sol is basement and cave (French) is cellar .... in English! So using "cave" in French is confusing for us as cave (English) means a caverne, grotte, antre - hence caveman - a person who behaves like a neanderthal - usually a man I'm afraid. Also pronounced like "brave" (English) not "halve".

To tell someone that s/he’s been ‘living under a rock’ or ‘in a cave’ is to imply that s/he is out of touch with current thinking, current events and practices in general. The expression is used colloquially and jocularly among friends. I wouldn’t use it elsewhere.

  6. Dec 8, 2017 · The more important meaning is "cave", of course it seems the Finnish word doesn't mean "cave" but "pit, well" which certainly relates to "digging" more than the Latin and Persian words, the fact is that caves are usually natural formations, Persian stem kav also means "to explore, excavate, ransack, search", it is possible that ancient Persians dug to reach a natural underground cave.

  7. Oct 23, 2009 · It could definitely apply to a cave. An " entry " most frequently means something manmade, such as a doorway, gate, etc. It does not usually apply to a natural feature such as the mouth of a cave. Therefore "the entry to the cave" sounds strange, unless the cave had a manmade doorway. Therefore, "entrance" is the more natural choice.

  9. May 13, 2010 · May 13, 2010. #1. I am currently in my french class reading the play Zone for class. Several expressions have come up in the reading and I'm not exactly sure what they mean. If someone could help that would be great! 'Il est trop cave'. Thanks so much! Last edited: May 13, 2010.

  10. CAVE是一种Multi-Wall Virtual Reality系统,是的,不是只有头显才叫VR(国内把VR狭义的认作头显完全是商业营销的结果). 那些说CAVE又贵又没用的,完全是不会玩,一个最简单的CAVE,甚至可以用廉价的蚊帐搭建,比如 @MasterYe 的示范,搭3~4个投影机,就可以拼一个简单 ...
