Oct 2, 2024 · The world Blade Runner created was pretty much the prototype for what would become cyberpunk, especially visually. The visuals are a strike against 2049 in my book too. Don't get me wrong, it's beautifully shot, and I know that the look of the world is deliberately run down; I just don't find it as striking or interesting as the original.

Oct 2, 2024 · original has that awful rachel scene but 2049 has jared leto. they're about on equal footing to me in terms of re-watchability and influence. the theater experience for 2049 was way too good though. the opening scene with morton sapper blew my socks off and i haven't felt that way about a movie in decades.
